Introduction
In this lesson, pupils learn how to understand and talk about meals and dishes in French. They will learn food vocabulary, meals of the day, and simple verbs used when talking about food.
1. Meals of the Day (Les repas)

3. Ingredients (Les ingrédients)
Common ingredients
- les tomates – tomatoes
- les oignons – onions
- le piment – pepper
- l’ail – garlic
- le gingembre – ginger
- le sel – salt
- le poisson – fish
- la farine – flour
Vegetables
- le plantain – plantain
- le haricot – beans
- l’igname – yam
- le manioc – cassava
Fruits

4. Kitchen Utensils (Les ustensiles)

5. Talking About Food (Grammar)
We use simple verbs to talk about food:
- manger – to eat
- prendre – to take
- préparer – to prepare
- cuire – to cook
We also use partitive articles when talking about food:
- du riz
- de la soupe
- de l’eau
- des fruits
Negative example:
Je mange des fruits.
Je ne mange pas de fruits.
