GHS 94 : Draw Me Nearer, Blessed Lord Lyrics
GHS 94, “Draw Me Nearer, Blessed Lord,” is a prayer hymn for closer fellowship with Christ. Written by Fanny Crosby, the extraordinarily prolific blind hymn writer of the nineteenth century, with music by W.H. Doane, the hymn begins with the declaration “I am Thine, O Lord” and then immediately reveals that belonging to God is not enough on its own. The heart longs to be drawn nearer still, to the very cross where Christ died, to His precious, bleeding side.
The hymn speaks of consecration, of prayer as friendship with God, and of depths and heights of love that can only be fully known on the other side of eternity.
