DCLM CHILDREN STS LESSON 21 RESURRECTION OF CHRIST AND THE GREAT COMMISSION
TEXT: Matthew 28:1-20; Mark 16:1-20; Luke 24:1-53.
Resurrection means to bring to life, something or somebody that was dead. The resurrection of Jesus is special and unique, it is the first of its d. Jesus Christ came into the world purposely to suffer and die for our sins, He accomplished that purpose when He was nailed to the cross and later buried. Then the third day, He rose up triumphantly from death just as He has promised. Even before Jesus was born, the Old Testament prophets spoke about His death, burial and resurrection. God is true and whatever He has said will surely come to pass, Jesus is alive forever.
The resurrection of Christ guarantees victory over sin. Satan and death for those who believe in Him (Romans 6:5-J 1; 1 Corinthians 57). With the many facts that we have in the Bible, Christian boys and girls today have no reason to be confused about the reality of the resurrection of Christ. They should therefore go to the world and bear witness of His resurrection so that sinners will turn from darkness to light and from the power or Satan to God.

PROPHECIES AND PROOFS OF CHRISTS RESURRECTION.
Matthew 28:1-10; Mark 16:6-14; Luke 2+1-8; Psalm Acts 3:15; 1 Corinthians Revelation 1:17, 18.
The Old Testament prophets spoke about every aspect of the life of Christ. Jesus Himself confirmed that He was going to die and rise up the third day. His virgin birth, ministry, death, burial and resurrection were prophesied and they all came to pass. This should assure believers of the reality of Christ’s resurrection and give them hope Of His second coming and their own resurrection.
There are many events recorded in the Bible which confirm that Jesus rose from the dead.
(i) The angel declared unto Mary Magdalene and other women that went to the tomb to anoint the body of Christ that he is not here: behold the place where they laid him” (Mark 16:6). They were surprised as they met an empty tomb.
(ii) Peter and John ran to the tomb, and what they saw was the burial clothes of Christ. He had risen in bodily form (John 20:7).
(iii) Jesus appeared unto several of His disciples after His resurrection (Mark 16:9-14; Luke Christ showed them the evidence of His crucifixion: the marks in His hands and feet that were pierced. Jesus said, “Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have” (Luke 24:39).
(iv) The outpouring of the Holy Ghost at Pentecost was a proof of the reality that Christ is risen from the dead and exalted at the right hand of God (Acts 1:4-8; 2:1-3).
After Christ rose from the dead, He showed Himself alive “….by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God” (Acts 1:3). Christ’s resurrection from the dead proves that He is the Son of God (John 10:17, 18) and gives us assurance of His power to save. If you are not saved yet, you have no reason to remain in your sins. Repent now and accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour, Then at the time of rapture, you will also rise to meet Him in the air.

POWER OF CHRIST’S RESURRECTION AND THE GREAT COMMISSION.
Matthew 28:16-20; Mark 16:15-20; Luke 24:46-49; Acts 1:1-8; 2 Timothy 4:2
When Christ called His disciples, He declared ”Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19). That was the original reason for calling them. But the period of the arrest, crucifixion and death of Christ left the disciples discouraged and confused. To some of them, the ministry had ended. However, the surprising news of Christ’s resurrection broke out. The risen Lord met with them at Galilee. At that meeting, Christ gave them a commission to go and preach the gospel to every creature in all nations. That charge is what is now known as The Great Commission’.
The Great Cåmmission was given on the basis of Christ’s victory over death. The Scripture says, “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth” (Matthew 28:18). Christ’s declaration of His authority and power represents the Christians’ privilege in executing the same authority on Christ’s behalf. All the authority and might of the risen Christ, back up the Great Commission. As obedient Christians, we are to go and preach the gospel.
The Lord assures saved boys and girls who would ‘GO’ of His presence when He said: and, g0, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen” (Matthew 28:20b). This assurance guarantees our success, security and safety as we obey the Great Commission and preach the gospel to every creature.
