GHS 88 : Wherever He Leads I’ll Go Lyrics
GHS 88, “Wherever He Leads I’ll Go,” is a commitment hymn built on the call of Jesus to take up the cross and follow Him. Written by B.B. McKinney, the hymn begins with the Lord’s direct invitation and answers it with a wholehearted vow to follow Christ regardless of the path ahead. It acknowledges that the road of discipleship may pass through shadows, storms, and hardship, but the commitment remains steady: wherever Christ leads, the believer will go.
The refrain, “Wherever He leads I’ll go,” is a declaration that the direction of one’s life is no longer self-determined but surrendered to a Saviour who loves deeply. This hymn appears as number 88 in the Gospel Hymns and Songs (GHS) collection, used in Deeper Life Bible Church and related assemblies across West Africa, and it is widely sung during missionary calls, consecration services, and evangelism outreaches.
Hymn Lyrics – GHS 88: Wherever He Leads I’ll Go
- “Take up thy cross and follow me,” I heard my Master say; “I gave My life to ransom thee, Surrender your all today.”
Wherever He leads I’ll go, Wherever He leads I’ll go, I’ll follow my Christ who loves me so, Wherever He leads I’ll go.
-
He drew me closer to His side, I sought His will to know, And in that will I now abide, Wherever He leads I’ll go.
-
It may be thro’ the shadows dim, Or o’er the stormy sea, I take my cross and follow Him, Wherever He leadeth me.
-
My heart, my life, my all I bring To Christ who loves me so; He is my Master, Lord, and King, Wherever He leads I’ll go.
