Loose Him and Let Him Go

The Compulsory Spiritual Experiences of an Excelling Minister -Pas. Kumuyi

Text: Hebrews 8:5-6; 1 Peter 2:21.

“But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was  established  upon  better promises.” (Hebrews 8:6). The verse refers to Christ, our Saviour, Lord, Forerunner, Example, and Model who has obtained a more excellent ministry. If we are going to be in the excellent ministry, we must obtain the excellent ministry that Christ has obtained; we cannot attain it by our power, strength, and ingenuity but we must obtain it. You never obtain anything except you desire it and be willing to abandon the things that are not excellent as we leave the bad for the good, the good for the better, and the past for the present. Those who are satisfied with what they have and what they have done will lack the eagerness, desire, passion, and drive to pay the price to obtain what is higher, greater, and more excellent. In the new covenant, Christ is now the Mediator who sends us forth as ambassadors of the new covenant established on better promises. We are called as children of God and ministers of God to go and proclaim what Christ would be proclaiming today if He were in the world physically. “For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:” (1 Peter 2:21). Christ has called us to follow His steps in life, in ministry, in the preaching of the gospel, and in the content of the gospel that we preach. Christ came to give us a better covenant established upon better promises, therefore, if we follow any of the Old Testament prophets, we are not following Christ. The Lord will touch and transform our hearts so that we will follow Him all the way through in this excellent ministry in Jesus Name.

1.    THE SUPREMACY OF GOD’S ONLY BEGOTTEN SON

Hebrews 1:1-10.

“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us  by  his  Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;” (Hebrews 1:1-3). God has gone higher with us than He was with the Old Testament prophets because He now speaks to us through His Son. Christ was not appointed by man, chosen by Israel, or voted by angels; His appointment was by God Himself. Christ our Lord is the express image of God’s person and the will of God. We know that salvation, healing, and holiness are part of God’s will because Jesus, Who is the expression of God’s will to us, did all these. If you are praying for salvation or any blessing from heaven, you pray only in the name of Jesus.

  1. The Exalted Position of the Anointed Son Hebrews 1:1-4; Philippians 2:9-11; Hebrews 12:2; Mark 16:19. “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11). If you believe in God as the Creator and Possessor of the whole earth, you will not put down what God has You must first surrender to Jesus as Lord and Master before you can command other knees to bow when you mention the name of Jesus. It is when you have your mind, heart, life, ambition, and personality bowing to the Lord that you can have authority with the name of Jesus. Before you tell other people to confess Christ, your own tongue also should confess Christ as the One that can forgive and cleanse.
  2. The Experienced Purging by His Acceptable Sacrifice Hebrews 1:3; 9:14, 22, 27-28; Psalm 51:7-13; 1 Corinthians 5:7-8. Since Christ has performed the sacrifice and said it is finished, any other sacrifice anyone else brings will not be accepted. Those who bring their own sacrifice cannot be saved or have changed lives. We have the final sacrifice of Christ, and it is finished, free, and We get everything we need from heaven through Christ because the purging, forgiveness, purification, and possession of God’s blessing all come from the acceptable sacrifice of Christ. “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;” (Hebrews 1:3). If you are going to be free from sin-consciousness, from the overpowering influence of sin on your past life, and from any remembrance of your past life, it is only Christ who can do it. The only washing, cleansing, and purification acceptable in heaven is the one Christ has done. “Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.” (1 Corinthians 5:7-8). You have to accept, believe, and place your confidence in the power of the sacrifice of Christ for us. If you are born again, Christ has forgiven you and you can no longer hold malice or revenge because insincerity, hypocrisy, and pretence are gone.
  3. The Extraordinary Power of the Almighty Sustainer – Hebrews 1:3-10; Isaiah 9:6-7; Matthew 28:18-20; Ephesians 1:20-22. “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.” (Hebrews 1:3-4). Christ is the almighty Sustainer. “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father,

The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.” (Isaiah 9:6-7). Christ was born to save, heal, deliver us, and take us from the valley of despondency to the mountain of joy in the Lord. When you know that Christ was born because of you and given by the Father on the cross because of you, you will put the whole government of your life, the administration of your life, the goings in and out of your life, the decisions, and desires of your life on His shoulder. Every church that names the name of Christ will put the administration and leadership of the church upon the shoulders of Christ. When this world will receive Christ at His second coming as the King of kings and Lord of lords, all the government of the world will be upon His shoulder. Our lives will not be wonderful until we place everything squarely upon His shoulder. Christ is the one who brings orderliness to our lives. When you place everything in your life on Christ and you cast all your cares on Him, your life, family, business, aspirations, ambitions, and everything you go after will be orderly. “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all  things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:18-20). Only Christ can say that all power belongs to Him because of His exalted personality and position. He has all the power to save, heal, forgive, deliver, sanctify, baptise in the Holy Ghost, subdue every negative thing, and carry you through till you get to heaven.

2.  THE SALVATION BY GRACE FOR OBEDIENT BELIEVING SONS

Hebrews 2:1-10.

  1. So Great Salvation and Escape from Eternal Suffering Hebrews 2:1-4; 4:1-3, 6, 11; 2:10, 14-18; 5:9. “Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was  confirmed  unto  us  by  them  that  heard  him;”  (Hebrews  2:1-3). We must give more earnest heed to the word of Christ than we give to the words of professionals in this world. Those who do not give more earnest heed to the word of God that they hear cannot be saved, sanctified, or benefit from the conferences they attend. If we neglect the word of God by being distracted during prayer, we will not get anything from the word of God. “Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.” (Hebrews 4:1-3).

After Christ has done everything for our salvation and we have received the knowledge of the possibility of having eternal life, we must know that there is still the danger of not entering into His rest. For those who do not believe, the word of God does not profit them unto salvation, sanctification, or healing, but those of us who believe enter into His rest. It is when we give ourselves to what we are hearing that the salvation that comes with rest, restoration, and righteousness will be ours. “And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;” (Hebrews 5:9). Those who disregard the Saviour, shun, and kick away the word of the Saviour don’t have eternal salvation.

  1. Such a Great Saviour and Emancipator of Endangered Sinners Hebrews 2:14-15; Colossians 2:13-15; Hebrews 7:25-26; 2 Timothy 1:12. Sinners are endangered in this life because the devil is going about seeking whom to devour. But Christ, the great Saviour, has come to emancipate all the endangered “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he  also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver  them  who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” (Hebrews 2:14- 15). When Christ died on the cross of Calvary, He destroyed the power of the devil over you. Sinners come under bondage to herbalists, traditionalists, and bullies because of fear. When you understand that Christ the Son of God has paid the price for you, you turn your eyes away from the bullies and turn to Christ, all your bondage will be shattered, and you will be free in Jesus Name.

“And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh,  hath  he  quickened  together  with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” (Colossians 2:13- 15).

The Gloomy Situation and Exhortation Against Empty Service Hebrews 3:12-19; 4:1-3, 6-7, 11; 10:26-31; 12:25-29. The Lord is cautioning us that as we go on in this journey to life everlasting, we will not let our tongue, headiness, stubbornness, and opposition against the way of the Lord get us into a gloomy situation that will make our service empty. “Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any  of  you  be  hardened through the deceitfulness of For we are made  partakers  of  Christ,  if  we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that  had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.” (Hebrews 3:12-19).

Sin does not only give guilt and condemnation, but it also gives hardness of heart and a seared conscience. Heaven will not accept an adamant sinner; it takes a change of life and holiness for you to get to heaven. You are only saved forever if you keep on obeying the Lord, and hold steadfast the beginning of our conviction, confession, conversion, and believing in the Lord until the end. When a professing believer sins, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are grieved. “See that ye  refuse  not  him  that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.” (Hebrews 12:25-29). Some falsely say that the Old Testament God was strict but that they can live as they like in the New Testament; they are wrong because even in this New Testament, God cannot be shaken by the lies of the devil and the deception of false preachers. After all our Christian experiences, we must still have the grace to serve God with reverence and godly fear because, even now, our God still hates sin and He is a consuming fire.

3.   THE SANCTIFICATION FOR GRACIOUSLY OPEN, BLOOD-BOUGHT SERVANTS

Hebrews 2:11-18; Acts 20:28.

The people that are following the Lord are open and have nothing hidden. When we are real children of God, we live in the presence of God with openness because we are blood-bought, blood-cleansed, blood-sanctified, and blood-energised.

  1. The Fellowship of Sanctified Saints with the Sanctifier  –  Hebrews  2:11-13; John 17:17-19; Hebrews 13:12-14; 1 John 1:3-7. “For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,” (Hebrews 2:11). Whatever you sanctify or set apart for holy use must be holy itself. When we are sanctified, purged, and purified inside and outside, without any condemnation, we can come to God and be united with Christ the   Sanctifie   “Sanctify   them   through   thy   truth:   thy   word   is   truth.”   (John 17:17). You are not sanctified by error, deception, or self-talk; it is the truth of the word of God that sanctifies. “Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach. For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.” (Hebrews 13:12-14). It is the same blood that saves us, forgives us, and cleanses us that sanctifies us; it is a pure, holy, harmless, spotless, and sinless blood. If you are dodging persecution, reproach, and insult from the world, you cannot be sanctified, but when you are ready to bear His reproach in consecration, the Lord will sanctify you.
  2.
  3. The Faithfulness of Sanctified Servants in His Service Hebrews 3:1-6; 1 Corinthians 4:1-2; Colossians 4:7,17; Titus 1:5-9. Faithfulness is being full of faith in the absence of anyone watching Faithful people are the people who hold on to the word of God with conviction because they are committed to every detail of the word of God no matter what anybody does or reacts. “Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.” (Hebrews 3:1-2). Holy brethren are the only kinds of brethren that heaven knows about. As Jesus was faithful, may He see us faithful all the time, everywhere in Jesus Name. “Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be  found  faithful.”  (1  Corinthians  4:2).The Forthrightness of  Sanctified  Souls  to  the  Scripture  Hebrews 4:12-16; 2 Corinthians 2:17; 4:1-2; 2 Timothy 2:15, 19-22. “Study to shew
  4. thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be  ashamed,  rightly  dividing  the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15). Go beyond being saved and being an ordained minister to study to show yourself approved unto If you are not rightly devoting your life to the truth, there is no way you will rightly divide the word of truth. The Lord will cleanse us and turn our lives around for the better in Jesus Name. “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” (2 Timothy 2:19). Everyone that names the name of Christ must depart from iniquity, and the cleansing power of the blood will take effect in your life, and then the empowering Spirit of God will come into your life and your ministry will be taken to a higher level in Jesus Name.
