THE PURPOSE AND THE PROVISION OF CHRIST’S CRUCIFIXION
INTRODUCTION
Christ carried His own cross to the place of crucifixion; He bore His cross (v.17,18). What do you and I have as a result of Christ’s crucifixion? Many know the story, can describe the story and demonstrate it, but never really understanding the purpose. If you don’t see Him on the cross, you can’t see Him wearing the crown Matthew 27:42,43; 1Corinthians 1:18. The sufferings and sins of the world are overwhelming but there’s only one way out – salvation through the Blood of Jesus Ephesians 2:14-17. Those who are afar off in paganism and heathenism now have the same opportunity as the Jews to be saved by the shed Blood at Calvary Colosians 2:13-15.
Everything you’ve done sinfully were written against you, to be forwarded before you when you cross over so as to destroy you, but Jesus nailed all sins to the cross so you don’t have to die again. You must accept that though, by sincere repentance. Being crucified is a token of His love for you 1Cor1:23,24,30; Gal2:20; Gal5:24; 6:14; Rom6:6.
POINT I: ACCOMPLISHMENT OF ALL SCRIPTURES FULFILLED
Those two words”Accomplished” and “Fulfilled” are great indeed, dating back to the Endemic prophecy Gen3:15; Zech13:7; 11:12,13. The life of Jesus wasn’t an accident; everything foretold about Him was accomplished and fulfilled Ps22:1,16,18; 69:21. Prophecies written concerning Him over a thousand years before He came were all accomplished Ps69:21; Is53:10; Lk24:14,15,46,47. As you believe in Him, every guilt and condemnation of sin He’ll take away Acts26:23; 3:15,26. You can be free tonight.
POINT 2: ATONEMENT FOR ALL OUR SINS FINISHED
Jn19:30.
Christ did the work and said, “It Is Finished”! Judgement finished, oppression finished and suffering in Hell finished for you. It means that the atonement has been finalized Lev17:11. Prior to His crucifixion the death penalty was upon you, but Christ was crucified on your behalf so you won’t have to re-mediate or atone for your sins through the blood of animals. His Blood made the final atonement Mt26:28.
The thing that appeased God from showing His anger towards us is the Blood of Jesus Christ Rom3:23,24,26. Since you were born, you were controlled by sin and came short of God’s glory, but through the redemption in Christ you are saved Rom5:6-11. As you accept that tonight, a change will happen. Your name will be written in the Book of Life Heb9:22; 1Pet1:18,19. Through that Blood we’re saved and sanctified Heb10:10; 13:20,21; Rev1:5,6. Having believed in Him we shall reign with Him, over every problem and affliction, and throughout all eternity Rev12:9-11; 1Jn1:7; Dan9:24.
POINT 3: ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THE SAVIOUR FORETOLD
Jn19:38-42, Is53:9-12,Ps51:1-5,7,10,12, Jer23:6, Is45:22; Is61:10; 63:1,8, Jer31:33; Eze36:25-27,Acts13:22,23,38,39,46-48, Ps103:12; 130:8.
Joseph of Arimathea and the people gave Jesus Christ a costly burial in acknowledgement of His death after fulfilling prophecy Both the poor and rich, the saint and the sinner acknowledged the very fact that He is the Saviour He cleanses from all iniquities Salvation is for everyone all over the earth. No matter how far you’ve gone or how deep you are in sin, Christ the Saviour will cleanse and forgive you completely
It was foretold and He finished it, and it’s going to be practicably real and fulfilled in your life. Your own time of fulfilment has come
I am coming to Christ tonight. What about you?
