GHS 120 : Speak A Word Lyrics
GHS 120, “Speak A Word,” is a witness hymn built on the conviction that one spoken word for Jesus, at the right moment, can change a life forever. The hymn asks believers to speak lovingly to sinners, tenderly to the sin-sick soul, and with warning to those wandering off the narrow way. None of these is a grand public act requiring a platform or a programme. All of them can happen in ordinary moments, in daily conversation, on the street, in the home, anywhere a believer encounters a person who needs the Saviour.
The refrain adds urgency to the gentleness: time is slipping away, so speak quickly, speak today. This hymn appears as number 120 in the Gospel Hymns and Songs (GHS) collection, used in Deeper Life Bible Church and related assemblies across West Africa.
Hymn Lyrics – GHS 120: Speak A Word
- Speak a word, a loving word for Jesus, Ev’rywhere you go; Tell poor sinners how He died to save them From eternal woe.
Speak a word for Jesus, speak it quickly, Swiftly glides the time away; Daily tell the wondrous story of the Master’s glory, Speak a loving word today.
-
Speak a word, a tender word for Jesus, To the sin-sick soul; Tell him Christ, who came to save the vilest, Waits to make him whole.
-
Speak a word, a warning word for Jesus, Speak it day by day, Strive to lead some weak and wand’ring brother In the narrow way.
