RECONCILING THE SINFUL MAN WITH THE HOLY GOD
SATURDAY WORKERS’ TRAINING
MINISTER: PASTOR W. F. KUMUYI
2 CORINTHIANS 5:11-21
POINT 1: THE MEDIATOR FOR OUR RECONCILIATION WITH GOD, 2 CORINTHIANS 5:11-17.
i. The Sentence Against Sinful Men By The Holy God, 2 Corinthians 5:11: Ecclesiastes 8:11-13; Hebrews 10:30-31; Psalm 7:11.
Our world does not know that there is a terror of the Lord. They fear only the terror of men. How much of the fear of the Lord do you know?
ii. The Sacrifice Of The Sinless Mediator For The Hellishly Godless, 2 Corinthians 5:14; Romans 5:8-10; Isaiah 53:6; 1 Timothy 2:3-6.
There is nobody who is morally good enough to get to heaven by himself without the Mediator and Messiah – Jesus Christ, the Son of God who sacrificed His blood, who would have all men to be saved.
iii. The Selflessness Of Saved Men Through Heaven’s Grace, 2 Corinthians 5:15; Romans 14:7-8; Matthew 20:28; Philippians 2:4-5.
If you have come into the kingdom, you are given the mind, passion and desire of Christ. As a saved man or woman, you become a selfless person who now has the grace of God. We don’t live for only ourselves anymore. Can you consider the prayers you always pray? Do you remember others in your prayers or are all your prayers just for yourself?
POINT 2: THE MESSAGE OF RECONCILIATION IN THE GOSPEL, 2 CORINTHIANS 5:18-20.
i. The Ministry Of Reconciliation By Ambassadors, 2 Corinthians 5:18; Daniel 9:24; Romans 5:10-11; Hebrews 2:17-18.
The meaning of having reconciliation is to put an end to transgression. This means that the sin business is finish. There is no sinful career anymore. Anyone living in sin needs reconciliation, and that reconciliation only comes through Jesus Christ. And now, grace and strength comes into our lives.
ii. The Message Of Repentance For Acceptance, 2 Corinthians 5:19; Mark 2:17; Luke 24:46-47; Acts 17:30-31.
We are like stewards who bring the food to the table. As the food has been served so we bring it to the table. So also, we are not to modify, change, adulterate, alter or simplify the word of God. As the word of reconciliation has been given unto us, we are to deliver it just as it is to those separated from God.
iii. The Marks Of Redemption By The Almighty, 2 Corinthians 5:20; Luke 1:68, 74-75; 1 Corinthians 1:30-31; Revelation 14:4-5.
What does God look at as a result of your reconciliation and redemption? What are the marks? How do we know that a person is saved? There is fellowship, love and forgiveness now. You are now in intimate and loving relationship with God.
POINT 3: THE MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION THROUGH HIS CHRIST, 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17, 21.
i. A Renewed Man In Christ, 2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 4:23-24; Colossians 3:10, 15-17; 2 Corinthians 4:16-18.
A new man in Christ is remade, remodeled and refashioned. There is not a mixture of the old and new. Don’t talk with a body language we cannot understand. A dirty mind will have a dirty man. And a dirty mind will have a defiled outlook. Wear and put on the new man. The peace of God rules in the heart of a true child of God. Can you fight, slap or covet in the name of the Lord? NO! Do all things that you do in the name of the Lord Jesus.
ii. A Resent Minister By Christ, 2 Corinthians 5:18-20; Jonah 3:1-10; Acts 5:18-21, 28-29; Acts 18:9-11.
The commission, commandment and what the Lord desires to be done has not changed. Maybe you didn’t do it before, the Lord is calling you to do it again. The commission is still the same.
iii. A Refocused Ministry For Christ, 2 Corinthians 5:20-21; 1 Corinthians 1:23-24, 30; Colossians 1:28-29; Ephesians 6:19-20.
Maybe we have been deviating from the target, audience and purpose of preaching. But now, we refocus our ministry. Before you go to preach, do you spend any time at all in prayers? Do you seek the face of the Lord? Or do you rely on your communication, strength and experience alone? Do you depend on people to pray for you? I pray that as you rise to preach the gospel, the Lord will help you.
