The Power of Praising God

The Power of Praising God for His Mighty Deeds, Pastor W. F. Kumuyi

Message: Pastor (Dr) W F Kumuyi

Text: 2 Chronicles 20:1-12,14-17,20-25

We are looking at the power of praising god for his mighty deeds. God has done many mighty deeds in times past and He will do more in Jesus’ name. For those online, on the radio, on television, in different locations, and Gbagada here, I believe there will be a new page and chapter of your life in Jesus’ Name.

As for Jehoshaphat and all Judah, there came a problem and they didn’t know what to do, so, they waited on the Lord.

At times, challenges and difficulties come that are not your own making because the devil is still in the world and you don’t need to blame yourself. Don’t say you have done anything wrong; the devil is always angry with righteous people. If you are yet to be saved, you only need to give your life to Jesus and all will be well.

At times, ignorance is bliss. If enemies are planning to work against you and you don’t know, you have relative peace but when someone comes to tell you about what the enemies are planning, you shiver and tremble. Jehoshaphat feared and set himself to seek the Lord. The problem we are going through, we are not alone, all we need to do is to seek the Lord, not to tell anyone. God is always there for us. As we gather everywhere for the celebration of GCK, the Lord assures us that anything we shall ask in His name, we will receive.

vs 12. Jehoshaphat and his people asked for help from the Lord because they had no might against the company of people coming against them, so what did they do? We are looking at three things in this message.

2. PROBLEMS BEYOND MAN’S SOLUTION

2 Chronicles 20:12; Isaiah 37:3; Acts 12:3-6; 27:20-21

Are you confronted with anything that brings fear to your heart? Things that you panic about and wonder how you are going to do; maybe something you have never seen before. When you try everything, and it’s like nothing is working, thank God, we have Him to call upon. He is our Lord, Shepherd, and Solution Giver. Jehoshaphat and his people said their eyes were on God.

For Jehoshaphat, the people of Judah, and Jeremiah, it was a day of trouble. For the children of Israel in the presence of Goliath, it was a day of trouble because he threatened and ridiculed them and their God. There are days of trouble and blasphemy. The children come to birth and there is no strength to bring forth, hence, the joy that would have come from the delivery is not there.

Apostle Peter was in prison and Herod wanted to bring him out and kill him on a certain day, and he had no one to give him comfort. Same with the case of Paul on the sea, even after throwing most of their belongings into the sea, there was still no hope of survival. God Himself is our Helper and will do what He has promised to do. He is here at this very hour for you.

  1. Battles in life beyond our Capacity and Strength – The wars that are waged against us as individuals, and the Lord will get rid of them.
  2. Bondage under Lucifer without Compassion or Sympathy – he is the old serpent, and he has no drop of sympathy and compassion but God can deal with him.
  3. Bankruptcy and Limitation with a Conquered Spirit – There are times everything collapses and business is bankrupt, and personal life, and there is no hope, and your spirit is conquered. Don’t give up on that discouragement because things will turn around in Jesus’ name.
  4. Brokenness in Livelihood with Continual Sorrow – You are broken and almost turned to pieces with continual sorrow. In the night, you cannot sleep, and in the day, you don’t know where to go or turn because of continual sorrow. I’m talking about problems that you cannot deal with and human strength cannot take away from us.
  5. Burden of Loads of Critical Sicknesses – People say anybody can be sick, but some sicknesses are critical and defy medical and natural cures. Different people come up with different solutions, all to no avail, and it is like the end has come. I’m telling you tonight that the end has not come. The Lord will satisfy you with a long, healthy, and happy life. It will start tonight.
  6. Barrenness and Lostness without Cure for the Sick – Marriage of many years with no hope of having children. At times, you are lost in the world and you don’t know what to do.
  7. Boldness of Lawlessness against His Conquering Servants – The enemies of Judah and Jehoshaphat were very bold and had the mind to bring them down. But however bold and wicked they are, their lawlessness will not conquer you in Jesus’ name.

2. PROMISES BELIEVED FOR MANIFOLD SOLUTIONS

2 Chronicles 20:20; Romans 4:17-21; Acts 12:7-17; 27:22-25

We praise the Lord for one thing, that there is a promise in the Scriptures that matches any problem we have. When a mountain confronts you, there is a promise that matches it. And whatever enmity might come from any man against your life, there is an exploit by the power of the Lord to deal with it. No matter how difficult everything may be, God is willing, mighty, and merciful and there is no problem we have that is beyond Him.

And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper“. On the basis that you are a child of God and your name is written in heaven, but if not, be born again today, and your name will be written in heaven and Angels will rejoice over you. Because we are saved, we are friends of Christ, and everything we ask Him tonight He will grant.

Take note of these words – “as it is written. Whatever comes to you is because it is written, not by Satan’s, plans, or enemies’ plans, not by your thoughts. Live your life every day, order your steps, and plan your life day to day as it is written.

Abraham believed in all promises of God. He and Sarah were not dead but parts of their bodies were dead and they could not have children, but they believed in the promises of God. When someone is so sick, and it is like he cannot get well, he has to against hope believe in hope just like Abraham who became the father of many nations. He staggered not at the promise of God, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God. His faith was great and unshakable in the Lord. Being not weak in faith, they were persuaded that what God promised, He was able to perform. Performance of all the promises of God in your life in Jesus’ name.

What has God promised?

  1. Transforming Salvation – This is when God takes hold of your life and gives you salvation. Salvation transforms every aspect of your life and people will see it in you.
  2. Trustworthy Security – God has the power to protect and secure our lives. You’ve been living your life in fear but as you believe God, He will grant you security in Jesus name.
  3. Trustable Scriptures – God’s words are to be trusted because they will always come to pass. He gives us Scriptures and they are trustable. When Jesus commands, it is done because His word is to be trusted. All that He promised He can give us.
  4. Transparent Sanctification – He saves and brings us to the family, then He sanctifies us and gives us His very nature.
  5. Trampled Sicknesses – All sicknesses in any life already trampled under our feet by the power of the Lord. This was why Christ came so that He might destroy the works of the devil.
  6. Timely, Timeless Supernatural Strength – we need strength in our souls just as David defeated Goliath by the power of God. No matter the time or age you live in, the strength of God is always timely.
  7. Transferable Scriptural Solutions – What God has done for others, He can do for you also.

3. PRAISES THAT BRINGS MARVELOUS SOLUTIONS

2 Chronicles 20:21-26; Joshua 6:10,16-20; Acts 16:25-26; Luke 17:12-19

Even in the condition you are in, or your wife, husband or children, your loved ones, is it your financial or health situation, whatever it is, you will praise the Lord. Praise is a vehicle that brings marvelous solutions to us. You will praise the Lord as the blessings come. Even before we see the prayer answered, before any physical or visible manifestation, we praise and glorify the Lord, and the solution will come.

Who do you complain to about your challenges? Some people talk to people who have no solution to the problem – a sick person talking to another sick one, a financially-challenged person talking to the poorest and most bankrupt person in town. Anytime we have a problem, note that praises to God are powerful.

Jehoshaphat appointed singers to the Lord to sing, Praise the Lord, for His mercy endures forever. Whatever you are going through, even if someone is threatening you, will you hide, or if any kind of problem comes, you will trust the Lord your God. Learn to praise God during serious difficulties and solutions will come to you in Jesus’ name.

What are we praising God for and when are we to praise Him?

  1. Praise Him Before the Enemies Halt
  2. Praise Him Before the Walls Fall – Walls of demarcation between you and your destiny, solution, joy, and laughter will fall but we must employ the methods of Joshua and the children of Israel who praised God before the walls of Jericho fell.
  3. Praise Him Before the Feeling of Diseases Depart – Just as the Centurion had faith in the word of Jesus, the same way we must believe and praise Him even before we are healed.
  4. Praise Him, Believing the Spoken Word – the Centurion said to the Lord, “Speak the word only, and my servant will be healed”. As of tonight, the spoken word will work in your life.
  5. Praise Him Before the Prison Door Open. Our problems will not shift God from His throne. While Paul and Silas praised God in the prison, the foundation of the prison shook, the doors opened and their bonds were loosed.
  6. Praise Him Before the Leprosy Appear Cleansed – Ten lepers came to Christ and He only told them to go and show themselves to the Chief Priest. They did not argue, but obeyed and on their way, they were cleansed. Only a Samaritan came back to give thanks. At times, it is good to have a mind of one’s own.
  7. Praise Him Before Seeing the Tree Dry Up. Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah praised God and they had the victory.

For you to have reasons to praise God and have victory, you must, first of all, be born again. This is the beginning of your relationship with God. Confess and forsake your sin, and give your life to Jesus and the joy of salvation will continue in your life in Jesus’ name.

Bow your head and pray to the Lord now.
