The Privilege of Being Loosed from Infirmity-Pastor Kumuyi
TEXT: Luke 13:11-16.
“And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.” (Luke 13:11-12). Even though you cannot see Christ physically when you look up, He can see you with His piercing eyes, with His penetrating eyes, and with His eyes that can make all things possible. It is your privilege, redemptive right, and family right as a child in the family of God to be loosed from every infirmity, iniquity, and inability.
1. DAUGHTER OF ABRAHAM LOOSED FROM THE SPIRIT OF INFIRMITY
Luke 13:11-16; Mark 7:32-35,37; John 5:5-9,14; Acts 10:38.
“And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?” (Luke 13:11-16). Medical professionals may call an infirmity by any name, but Jesus identified the source of this woman’s infirmity as the spirit of infirmity. Something good will happen to you when Jesus sees you. Even though you may not see Him physically, He is right before you because where two or three are gathered in His name, He is there in their midst. When you believe the name of Jesus, He will touch you, all your infirmities will vanish, and you will glorify God. When you focus your mind and heart on the Lord Jesus Christ, His power will be permanent in your life in Jesus Name. Hypocrisy is not written on the forehead, and Jesus identified the hypocrites and called them out because He is God. It is not your responsibility to judge the religious leaders if they are hypocrites; leave them with Christ and focus on the miracle you have come for. Satan does not only bind the backbone, but he also binds the mind, the sight, the insight, the reasoning faculty, the hearing, and the soul. But Christ the Liberator is here to release you from everything that binds you. Some other people are bound by Satan, sickness, anger, fear and terror, and alcohol, but the Lord has come to set you free tonight and you are free in Jesus Name. “And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to put his hand upon him. And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue; And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened. And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain. And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.” (Mark 7:32-35, 37). There are times that the Lord takes you aside from the multitude when He sees that they think in unbelief, when they have the tendency to intimidate you, or when they have concentrations other than what He wants to do in your life. Tonight, the Lord will set you free and you will be amazed, astonished, and confess that He has done all things well.
2. SON OF ABRAHAM LOOSED FROM THE SHACKLES OF INIQUITY
Luke 19:5-10; Acts 8:21-23; John 8:34-36; Psalm 40:12-13.
“And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house. And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully. And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” (Luke 19:5-10). Jesus sees you in your need, passion, and eagerness. When the time comes to decide for Christ, you must make haste in coming to Jesus. When you come to Christ, He will give you more than what you have come for. Just as Zacchaeus received Christ joyfully, not Peter, you are to come to Christ and receive Him without bothering about the accusations of the religious people around. When Zacchaeus received Christ, he made Him Lord over His life, salvation came into his house, and He became a son of Abraham. Abraham believed God and it was counted to him for righteousness; when you believe the Lord, salvation will come into your house as well. Salvation has come to you tonight, and everyone who will receive and believe will have and possess the salvation of the Lord. You are a candidate for His salvation.
3. SUBJECTS OF THE ALMIGHTY LOOSED FROM THE STATE OF INABILITY
2 Corinthians 6:16-18; John 15:4-5; John 8:11-13; Psalm 51:5-13.
Whatever the inability in your life, the Lord will loose you from every inability. “And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” (2 Corinthians 6:16-18). You are now the temple of God, and as it would not be right to see idols in the physical temple, there should be no idol in your life. God will dwell in you in His power and every idol will fall flat in Jesus Name. Where the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost dwell, idols, magic, certificates of secret society and the garment of idol worship will not dwell there anymore. The Father is waiting to receive everyone, and as you come to Him, He will receive and welcome you into His kingdom. The Lord says you are loosed from your state of inability, and you will now be able to do what you could not do before because all the chains that bind you are shattered in Jesus Name. You are loosed from sickness, from insanity, and the bondage of sin. I am loosed. I am liberated. I am free. All the negative things that happened to you in the past have vanished in Jesus Name.
