GHS 70 : Have You Any Room For Jesus? Lyrics
GHS 70, “Have You Any Room For Jesus?,” is an invitation hymn that takes its image from the Christmas story. When Jesus was born, there was no room in the inn. The hymn asks whether history is repeating itself in the heart of the unconverted sinner: there is room for pleasure, room for business, but no room for the One who bore that very person’s load of sin and who is now knocking and asking admission. The urgency of the invitation grows through the stanzas, noting that today is the accepted time, that tomorrow the calling may stop, and that the day of grace will not last forever.
This hymn appears as number 70 in the Gospel Hymns and Songs (GHS) collection, used in Deeper Life Bible Church and related assemblies across West Africa.
Hymn Lyrics – GHS 70: Have You Any Room For Jesus?
- Have you any room for Jesus, He who bore your load of sin? As He knocks and asks admission, Sinners, will you let Him in?
Room for Jesus, King of glory, Hasten now, His word obey, Swing the heart’s door widely open, Bid Him enter while you may.
-
Room for pleasure, room for business, But for Christ the crucified; Not a place that He can enter, In your heart for which He died?
-
Have you any time for Jesus, As in grace He calls again? O today is time accepted, Tomorrow you may call in vain.
-
Room and time now give to Jesus, Soon will pass God’s day of grace; Soon thy heart left cold and silent, And thy Saviour’s pleading cease.
